Creative Cooking for Kids with Nuby USA

These are three adorable kid meals I cooked up after being inspired by Nuby’s new Designer Grip n’ Sip cups, available exclusively at Babies R Us beginning May 1st.

Over the past few weeks Nuby has sent me a bunch of fun, new things from some of the new designs they have launching all season long at Babies R Us. One of the products were these new Designer Series Grip & Sip cups, and in my mom opinion, they are the most perfectly engineered little sippy cups that even come with a silicone spout, making them super easy to clean and sanitize.

Their designs were so cute, so I decided to challenge myself to cook up some adorable meals to go along with them and let my kids chose the theme behind each meal based on the designs of the new cups.

When Giada saw the red Grip & Sip cup she thought of an octopus, Marco kept saying “moon” when he saw the blue one, and so on. We had a little fun and dedicated an entire week of cooking together in the kitchen, all woes and worries about mess left behind. Here are some of the things we made that week while I aimed to bring their imaginations to life through the use of food:

MEAL 1:

Under The Starry Night: Ham & Cheese Rocket Sandwiches

I was inspired to make this when I saw this post awhile ago on Pinterest and ever since making it the first time, it’s been a favorite and made countless times ever since here at our house.

^^These utensils are also a part of Nuby’s new collection, they come in different color combos and can be found here.

MEAL 2:

Sea Life: Octopus Hot Dogs on Seaweed Noodles

This was an absolute hit! I got the idea from A Taste of Home and used egg noodles instead to give it more of the real seaweed look. I also thought a few little goldfish couldn’t hurt and it ended up being the first thing they went for when digging into this plate!

Yes, I know! I completely messed up and only cut 6 legs in their octopus, oops!! I did in fact explain to the kids that octopi have 8 legs and mommy is an idiot 😝

MEAL 3:

Mini Mac n’ Cheese Muffins

Giada’s picked up the yellow cup and exclaimed “Cheese!” when she saw the bright yellow, so I went with that! I created a spin off the old favorite, Mac n’ Cheese, and decided on these adorable mini, bite sized Mac n’ Cheese Muffins. I was inspired after I saw this post from Chef in Training and thought that since one of Marco’s favorite meals is Mac n’ Cheese, why not make it just as adorable and bite sized as those. The were the perfect size for both kids… and also my husband, apparently.

Needless to say, the kids gobbled up every bite of these three dishes! They were by far their favorite out of everything we made that week. I made sure to use ingredients that they actually liked and would eat (hence the ham & cheese) but it can all be substituted with your kid’s favorite food.

The cups are available at Babies R Us starting May 1st, today! I’m telling you, they’re the best. They were tossed and kicked by my one year old all over the house and not once did they leak or spill. That’s a big deal with the stage/age he’s in!

I really thought these dishes were cute and hoped you liked them too! It’s also good to note that if you go and like Nuby’s Facebook page or follow them on Instagram you can be part of all the TONS of giveaways they have all the time!
