It surprises me to say, but today is the last day of August! Where did this month go?? I have one final installment for Breast Feeding Awareness Month, and it’s all about the pump. Moms, we are all too familiar with this machine that takes up permanent residence on our kitchen table, so today I’m going to share some incredible products that help make maintaining the pump and those tiny pieces a piece of cake.
By the way, did you know you don’t have to buy your own pump anymore? Most insurance companies provide one for free, and I’m not talking about a cheap, manual one either. I got this dual electric Medela pump 100% covered and chances are, you can too. All you have to do is call your insurance company and they’ll ship your choice of pump right to your front door. A tip: don’t wait until baby is born like I did. Order it while you’re still pregnant so you have it during those first few days when pumping is important.
The most annoying part about pumping is how you have to constantly clean all the parts after each use. It feels like I’m at the sink cleaning the pieces almost as much as I’m at the pump, or feeding the baby. Together those 3 tasks take up most of my day! And have you ever tried getting into those tiny tubes? Cleaning those intricate little parts is definitely a challenge.
Munchkin LATCH sent me some of their best pumping accessories, and I was more then happy to give them a try. They have a brush kit specially designed to clean those hard to reach parts, and sanitizing bags that save you time at the sink.
The bags are my favorite! You can put both pump pieces inside, zip it shut and zap it in the microwave and bam, germ free. You can also use them for bottles, too. And the brush is the exact shape of my pump parts, between that and those tiny brushes I can clean all areas of my pump and not have to worry about lingering germs anymore. I used to have to boil the tiny yellow flaps because I could never get inside, but not anymore.
You can find The brush kit here.
And the sanitizing bags here.
Before I sign off for the day, I want to take a moment to remember Princess Diana because this was the day she died. You all know what a royal fanatic I am, so I just had to do that. But on a brighter note, today is also my dad’s birthday! I’ve never appreciated him and all the things he’s done for me more then I do now that I have kids if my own. All of the sacrifices he made to ensure I was raised the best way possible is something you only realize in hindsight after becoming a parent yourself. So, happy birthday Daddy! I’m excited to spend the day celebrating how incredibly amazing you are!
